Botox injection therapy, also known as botulinum toxin type A, has been around since the 1980s and remains one of the most popular non-surgical options available to those seeking to improve the way they look. Botox can assist in reducing skin wrinkles resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance, and can be used on parts of the body such as the face, neck, and hands. Treatment only takes 10-30 minutes and complete results are seen around 10-14 days after injection with the treatment lasting anywhere between two and four months.
What is Botox?
Botox® (botulinum toxin a) is a refined neurotoxic protein produced by the bacteria clostridium botulinum. It prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which stimulates muscle contraction, and causes temporary paralysis. It has been used medically for almost 40 years, treating a range of neurological and urological diseases.
How does Botox Work?
Botox® works by preventing nerve impulses from reaching muscles, causing them to relax. As a result, any wrinkles are prevented from forming. It is 100% safe, non-invasive and effective in reducing forehead lines, crow’s feet around your eyes, and frown lines. Botox® has been used in cosmetic medicine over the last 20 years and is one of the most studied medicines in the world.
Who can benefit from Botox?
Botox is used to reduce excess frown lines, usually on the forehead and in-between the brows (elevens or 11's), crow’s feet around your eyes, and fine lines around your mouth. So if you are feeling like you have very strong facial muscles or are concerned about your fine lines and wrinkles, Botox is a suitable option. While it won’t completely eliminate wrinkles in these areas, it will likely soften them.
How much does Botox cost?
Botox treatments start from $120 for smaller procedures such as lip flip treatments, gummy smile treatments, and downward smile treatments. Common packages are:
soften it a bit package - 2 areas - $320
soften it a bit package - 3 areas - $495
Freeze It All package - 2 areas - $540
Freeze It All package - 3 areas - $860
I don't want to look frozen, how do I achieve a natural result?
Everyone’s face is unique and requires different doses. I tailor the dose according to your goals and my professional judgement. The goal is to achieve a natural result and I’d rather undertreat you and top up at your follow-up appointment, than over-treat you. Rest assured, you will not leave my clinic looking like the patients that appear on Botched - I promise.
